Jalapeno Poppers are a game time favorite in our household. After all, who doesn't love cheese filled jalapenos wrapped in bacon? Let's take this classic to the grill!

  Ingredients

  • 6 whole jalapeno peppers
  • 6 oz cream cheese the block (original)
  • 1 green onion finely minced (I've substituted with chives a time or two)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or fresh pressed if you prefer)
  • 1.5 oz sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 12 slices bacon
Tip: a tiny sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste on your bacon will add more flavor

Assemble

  1. Cut the stem off each jalapeno and cut in half lengthwise. Using a small spoon, scrape out seeds & membranes.
  2. In a small bowl combine cream cheese, green onion, garlic powder and cheddar cheese. Stuff into the jalapeno halves.
  3. Tightly wrap each jalapeno completely with bacon ensuring the cheese is covered. Secure with toothpicks. (You don't want to lose your cheese)

Now Grill

  1. Place jalapenos on grill cut side down and grill just until bacon begins to crisp (about 6 minutes) flip jalapenos over. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook an additional 10-12 minutes or until bacon is cooked and cheese is melted.
