A true marinade can be either acidic (made with ingredients such as vinegar, lemon juice, or wine) or enzymatic (made with ingredients such as pineapple, papaya or ginger). In addition to these ingredients, they often also contains oils, herbs, and spices to further flavor the food items. Here is some food for thought: try marinading more than just meats. Marinated veggies add a flavor explosion as well. Give it a try, you are sure to be pleased with your results.
Compound butters are amazing, not only are they super simple to make, the possibilities of flavor combinations are endless. Let your imagination run away with your taste buds! Here are some ideas to get started with:
The power of sauce. You can take a piece of grilled chicken (or any grilled food for that matter) and with the addition of a sauce take the flavor any direction you choose. Add notes of smoky flavor, maybe a hint of sweetness. Get zesty with with it or downright spicy! The palette is in your hands. Go for it!
Condiments are often the underdog of a meal. In the right setting, they can be the star if you let them. I'm not talking about ketchup and mustard, though I will share an easy recipe for homemade ketchup. I'm talking about custom condiments that give you the power of flavor.
