The Kennedy's Outdoor Kitchen: A Space to Appreciate Nature
Ten years ago, when the Kennedys purchased their home in Lakewood Ranch, they were excited about joining this ever-growing community. Since Lakewood Ranch is a master planned community the neighborhoods are developed to incorporate nature. This is certainly the case for the Kennedys; their home is surrounded by nature and the amazing wildlife that comes with it. They have seen deer, coyote, alligators, various cranes and a plethora of our avian friends as well as a bobcat; all from their home patio. Being the nature lovers that they are, they love outdoor living.
Their home came with a partial outdoor kitchen when they purchased it. While it was mostly functional, it wasn’t very aesthetically pleasing. So, as a final step in a larger outdoor renovation, the Kennedys made the decision to customize their outdoor space to be pleasing to the eye and fit their outdoor lifestyle needs.
A friend of theirs was working with AOC on a project for her home. Once they checked us out with a little due diligence they made a trip to our showroom. Working with our design professional, they were able to pull the look of their exterior space in line with the look of their interior space. The objective for the Kennedys was to create a functional outdoor kitchen that is low maintenance with a sleek look. Choosing white cabinets to continue the flow from the inside, and a gorgeous dark granite to tie in their dark interior flooring. These design choices were key to completing the visual flow of the sight lines from the interior kitchen to the outdoor kitchen. When working with our staff, the Kennedys had this to say:
“We worked with Andrew, Greg and Bryan on various parts of the project.
We found everyone to be extremely friendly and willing to go above and beyond to try to accommodate our wishes.”
The key components in this outdoor kitchen are our durable HDPE cabinets that will ensure this kitchen will withstand weather and time to lasts for generations. The grill which was a client choice we don’t normally provide but, as always, we are happy to oblige our clients. A stainless steel mini fridge, sink, faucet and of course the gorgeous granite. However, one aspect of their new space that turned out to be a favorite is not something you would immediately think of. Inside the cabinet on the end, is our pull-out option for your trash bin. While it may not be the first thing you think of when putting together your design, it was a great fix for Mrs. Kennedy. Replacing the old and very visible plastic bin they used to use outdoors. Mrs. Kennedy said, “having a bin incorporated into the kitchen was a win for me!”
Now that they have the outdoor kitchen they’ve been dreaming of, they are super excited about hosting BBQ parties, family get-togethers and staff parties. However, the best part is the functionality to enjoy al fresco meals on a daily basis. All from the comfort of home.
“I am already recommending American Outdoor Cabinets!
They helped us every step of the way and we are grateful for their time, patience, and hard work.”
